Sadistic? Yep it was. I was first realized of this condition in the middle of January 2008 when Adsense ad suddenly disapperead in this blog which simply meant descendant of advertising revenue for me. You might be wondering what was the cause?
If you’re having the same problem with me; I have to say that the reason was Google has probihited Adsense publishers from displaying certain type of articles in their website; such as the one below. (The entry is about speeding up Youtube Video Loading using a software which was interpreted as violating Youtube’s/ a company’s policies)

What will I do about this?
I guess I’ll make things real simple. I’m going to search and unpublish other posts that pose similar traits, since Adsense has always being the highest revenue contributer for this site and some advertising companies might follow the same policy in the future. It will be difficult if I choose not to do it now.
On the other hand, while surfing the internet few days ago I noticed some high-profile Technology-related sites have their Ads disapperead too because of that type of content; so I think we are exactly in the same boat.
Google is getting more rigid lately but still being rational as they always are by giving us the publishers some spaces to rectify our mistakes.
For now Google > me = I have to do the chores…
Sad isn’t it?

Does it do it because youtube is now part of the Google family? I mean if you were doing something against another website policy, would Google still care??

Google cares anything that involves hacking, exploiting and cracking. For example, sites showing ads may not provide instructions or equipment to illegally access or tamper with software, servers, or websites.

Maybe because Youtube is already theirs so there is no point in showing related ads.

Syahid A: If i’m not mistaken, Google do allows publishers to publish Google Video or Youtube vids in their websites; but with an exception that the publisher did not use them as the main content.

Google has recently started showing video thumbnails in search results though. I guess they are a law unto themselves.

I too had youtube videos on my site, but I did not receive such mail for adsense. True, Google has laws of themselves.

On the end of February, Google also update their TOS about privacy policy and all publihser have to accept it.
Do you know what is the reason behind this new TOS?

I didn’t know they remove Adsense from such posts. Interesting, that one is new to me.
I read that if you have Adsense on your pages, you have to create some kind of privacy policy and publish it on all pages of your site. I’m still not sure about that, because I didn’t see anyone has that.

Was that a ban or a warning? I had two warning myself now.

Google is really making me mad sometimes. They shutdown my adsense acciunt without any warnings

Actually google has done this before. Mubin Ahmed was told to remove adsense from his youtube downloader site because google felt that he was encouraging illegal activities like cracking into computer systems :8:

At least they got back to you with the problem, many companies especially web ones would just ban you and not reply to emails.

[...] permalink Nice design. Reminds me of the design for sizlopedia.com. BTW you might want to be careful about having google ads and a youtube downloader. Others have gotten into trouble because of that: Adsense Ads’ Sudden Disappearance In This Blog [...]

Thanks for letting everyone know. I have YouTube Video Downloader on my blog… Look’s like I’ll have to remove it now
March 29th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
I think that it is really unfair not to give you a chance to correct the problem, before they withdraw adsense.
A simple email with a 7 day period of grace, would be enough to scare most webmasters into instantly removing the problem and avoid the negative stories associated with sites losing their incomes.

So does it remove ads on just the ‘offending’ page or the whole site ? Did you remove that page from your site ? Reason I’m asking is because I do see google adsense on here..
April 1st, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Actually, it was re-enabled back yesterday. I’ve removed parts of my site which violated Google Adsense TOS and they have done the recheck.

Well What I think is that if Google is that much cautious about the copyright material then it has to block all such sites or links as we get them through their search engine. This is the point which I haven’t seen on the internet any where out there. Cuz if there is no such website in the search engines then there will be less practice to use these sites (e.g torrent sites and file sharing sites). Also there is a website link esnips where ppl share there stuff but google doesnt look for it out there

Well said, Nasir. There’s more example of what you’ve said like useless celebrity weblogs with nude pics inside. No offence, but they have more publicity and traffics (attention) than this site.

Its good to see ur Adsense back now … and u got other networks too … looking good on ur blog … its not messing out there
Good luck with ur account

Yet another reason why I do not like and do not use Google Adsense.

You were lucky. they just shut me down and said goodbye. Now they are telling you what ‘not to talk about’. If I call them ’scum bags’ will some spider find this and shut you down again. Is ‘big brother’ named ‘google’.

@Online Forex Brokers:
Maybe you can try to join Yahoo! Publisher Networks. Some reported it has yielded better result than Adsense.
