Question: How do I avoid | solve Youtube video playback problem?
Answer: Internet users sometimes will experience Youtube video playback problem while streaming the videos using their particular internet browser even though Youtube website is running fine. Normally, the indicators of the problem are the video playback wouldn’t start after being played, users receiving error message, or the video stops halfway before it could finish playing. There are several factors users should check upon so that the probability of encountering such problem can be minimized.
1) Make sure that you have installed Adobe Flash Player for your internet browser and there’s no torrent | p2p program / internet bandwidth hog application running in the background.
2) Check if ActiveX and Java are enabled (refer to your internet browser documentation for the steps).
3) Try to use other internet browser such as Mozilla Firefox and Opera if you’re using Internet Explorer.
The troubleshooting pretty much involves diagnostic steps to identify the nature and causes of the problem. If the problem persists, contact your internet service provider and confirm if the problem was their responsibility and not misconfiguration of your computer settings. Service by poor ISPs which provides unstable internet connection is also a main contributor that leads to this undesirable situation.

I consistently get a problem with youtube videos, and always thought it had to be the problem of the internet connection i was using. But now i will check out all those things you said and see if there is some other reason.

You Tube has always been more of a bane than a boon for me. Endlessly testing my patience, but maybe I need to follow your tips here to improve my experience with them.

this is all bull shit…youtube needs to solve the problem…they are just so big they don’t care – another microsoft…they could easily develop a tool to tell you what on your system is preventing the playback…some youtube videos work and others don’t…I hope youtube crashes and someone who knows how to run a business picks it up

Well, in your case it’s clearly Youtube fault. But in other cases, it might be not mr pipe dream.

@john larson:
You are an idiot. How the hell are they supposed to be able to tell what’s hogging your system resources? Woe betide us all if they actually could do that.
Problems playing clips are always on the client side. Personally, I always download the clip and watch it offline, so I don’t have any of those problems.

hah, I have had this problem with NOTHING else running on my system. Everything is latest versions, happens with different browsers AND on other people’s machines (which even have different OS’s).
The video is usually completely ‘downloaded’ (red bar filled in), and certain videos always ’stick’ in the same place (sometimes several places). The page needs to be reloaded & the tab dragged past the sticking point. It seems to be a problem with certain videos, rather than anything else.

When playing a youtube video as well as other videos, the video appears clearly but my sound becomes muffled. When the video launches the sound is clear, then 2 or 3 seconds in, the sound becomes muffled.

This does not happen when I play any other videos; either from CD, DVD or locally off my hard drive. I have uninstalled and re-installed flash numerous times. I have entered and cleaned my registry when I uninstalled (I know what I’m doing).
