Do you notice the similarities of the footer section and other CSS syntaxes used in the suspected website with my Blog Pixel 2.0 theme? (Click screenshot below to enlarge).
I have to tell you that find was a serendipity.
I really don’t mind people making my coding work as inspiration, but the act of copy-pasting other people work and editing it a little bit without giving any credit is unethical, I think, and I wrote this post just to express my view on it; no other intention involved.
I still remember though that I’ve mentioned a few undesirable things about the license of the theme which I previously released. They might sounded annoying that time, but it was important to prevent any rip-off.
But my finding proved that some people just don’t think of what they read.
p.s. I still have stocks of Wordpress theme in my sandbox which only God know when they will be released.

The world is full of people who can be called as careless to say the least, and unethical at the most. Sad but you are taking it well.

Well its sad but true.
Sometimes, the user might have copied even without knowing. When I was a newbie to the world of blogging. All i knew was copy pasting, I started giving credits only after someone commented thats its wrong, and I should have given credits…
Then I apologized him i didnt know it and gave him my credits

@Quakeboy:
I rather use the plain default Kubrick theme than to use other people theme without crediting the designer + coder first. You’re correct if you are to guess that the older me was in fact the opposite.
But I think that was acceptable because I have no sufficient background and experiences when I first started to involve in this website publishing things.
I just found it sad when this act was done by some guys with BC in I.T. etc. Didn’t they learn ethic in college? Well I’m still in high school so I didn’t know.

Our web designer told me that he found someone using his code through the tracking stats. The person that stole the design did not take the tracking info out of the code and the stats were going to the web designers stat information.
I guess if they are too lazy to create their own design they are probably going to be too lazy to fix it up.

I guess while some people are too lazy to put in credit for someone else the other’s are just bad mannered.

Are you refering to the pagination display at the bottom? Personally I don’t think that the design is so original that anyone would want to rip it off. I’ve seen so many similar control that I can’t distinguish yours in any way as original. It’s a slight variation on the theme - the same as what you’re accusing someone else of. Get real.
Admin: No. Not only that.
You can distinguish it easily if you look at CSS file. It was a copy+paste work. People who want to create a website/blog must equip themselves with sufficient knowledge about web development first, or at least the ethics if they want to use alternative ways.
There’s no shortcut to REAL success.

What surprises me is that people are willing to risk copyright infringement when they can find a perfectly good theme for free.
There are thousands of them, you just need to browse a bit and find what suits you.

Well, people are too lazy and like to rip. Wat to do, this is the real world

I can understand the feeling of being ripped off but when someone steals your idea, it just goes to prove true that imitation is the highest form of flattery. Though it is very much unethical.

That really sucks. I’m not good enough to code websites myself but if someone stole my idea or something, I’d be kinda pissed off too.

Why don’t you reveal the URL so that the whole world will know who was the guy that copied your work?
November 2nd, 2008 at 5:30 am
