Q: How can I play Flash File like YouTube videos on the internet when I don’t want to/can’t install Flash Player or anything?
A: This problem can be solved by using portable Firefox (since you don’t want or can’t install anything in the first place). The basic idea is we are going to embed Macromedia Flash Player into the Firefox using an unconventional method.
- Firstly, download portable Firefox from portableapps’ website. Run the file and follow instructions on screen. Check if you can run the portable Firefox before proceeding to the next step.
- Download Flash Player .xpi version from Macromedia => Link
- Change the file extension from .xpi to .zip by renaming it as flashplayer-win.zip
- Since you now have it as a .zip archive, extract the files in the archive to a folder.
- Copy the files flashplayer.xpt and NPSWF32.dll to the plugin folder inside your Portable Firefox folder:
FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox\plugins
Run the now flash-embedded Portable Firefox. You can view flash file anywhere you want on Windows-based PC without having to install anything as long as you have the portable Firefox with you.
The method of embedding flash player above can also be applied to the standard version of Firefox.

Interesting found.. You said i can run it “Run the file and follow instructions on screen.”. Will I have the permission to run the file? If not what?

I noticed a big speed difference for the better from this version vs. portable firefox 2.0.0.16. So thats why i give this a 4. For some reason, i saw no speed increase in regular firefox 3 vs. regular 2.0

That’s a great technique.
Firefox is such an awesome browser, anything is possible with it

I admit, I don’t have flash player installed on my (now obsolete) desktop – which I use frequently. When I visit a site that states flash player is needed I quickly leave as I refuse to download it. This technique is great; no fuss, no muss. Thank you for the idea.

You should get such institutes in Guwahati itself. You just have to search in guwahati or just ask some institutes like Aptech or NIIT and they might lead you to some good institute or course.

On reading the subject of this post I had hoped that it would provide a work around for integrating Flash Player in the Firefox 64bit but alas not. I shall continue to browse the internet without the ‘pleasures’ of Flash.

I love Chrome for its speed, but it has some bugs that cause it to crash or be incompatible with some sites. I love Firefox because it seems to work better, and I love the plugin and configuration I have set up for SEO and performance work..
July 15th, 2010 at 2:18 pm
That’s interesting I didn’t realize you could do that.

worked great for FF Portable and Opera10USB. IE insists that Flash Player needs to be updated to ver10.
