use Mozilla Firefox yet, make a switch now. There are many hidden features inside Mozilla Firefox and getting the best out of Firefox is not impossible if you know how to do it. The Firefox logo at the right side looks evil doesn’t it? Here are some tips on how to speed up your Mozilla Firefox. The first thing that you should do is to get the latest Mozilla Firefox at the Get Firefox Homepage. This is to ensure you get the latest bug fixed and enhancements. Then, you can apply these tricks.
For geek user
1. Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally Firefox will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. Just like the concept of internet download manager which offer faster file download speed.
2. Change the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.
For Beginners
Another way is to use an extension called Fasterfox. Fasterfox allows you to tweak many network and rendering settings such as simultaneous connections, pipelining, cache, DNS cache, and initial paint delay. A good alternative if you don’t want to mess up with your Firefox settings.
Tips Reducing Firefox memory usage
-There is a report of some Firefox extensions that may cause Firefox to slow down. Uninstalling them will fix that. This is a list of a few of the extensions that cause these problems.
- IE Tab (memory leak)
- Session Saver (memory leak)
- ForecastFox (memory leak)
- Filterset.G Updater AND FlashGot used in conjunction will produce a memory leak
- FasterFox doesn’t have a memory leak specifically, but it will not help your Firefox performance.
- Tabbrowser (slows Firefox)
- FoxyTunes (memory leak)
*Tab browsing is built into Firefox and it is a great time saver. This feature also helps your computer to conserve memory a lot since it don’t require you to open a new window to browse new page. You can use it by pressing (Ctrl+T)

If you make a VPN connection the above tweaks will not work very well. On normal web pages it helps the speed, but if you need to VPN with your work place etc, skip it. Or if you want go ahead and try, but you will take those entries back to default.
