For script fanatic that like to try new things, this is for you. A challenge has been made to create a digg.com like site and now, there is a free CMS that allow us to do that. This script works only for PHP and Mysql.
Pligg, the widely used open source “Digg-like” CMS, released its long anticipated Beta 8 today. Pligg’s dynamic structure allows users to quickly and effortlessly install and customize their sites. Pligg acts as a framework for many successful sites such as VH1’s Best Week Ever and VideoSift.
The community currently consists of over 2,151 members. You can get the best support out there, just post your problem and there would be a member that will help you. An IRC room is provided, and at least one helpful Pligg developer will be in the chatroom and able to help you out 24 hours a day.
Back to the story, with a help of templates modification, you can create a website that looks like Digg.com using this CMS. If your country doesn’t have one, get on the track and build it before others done that. One example of Digg-concept site is Digg.com.my which offers latest Malaysia headline to the public.
The Digg.com design has become so popular that many designer nowadays has design websites based on the Web 2.0 interface which is simple, modern and elegance. The future of Digg.com seems good, but with a lot of clone that is going to be build, will the reputation lasts forever?
