Now, I want to introduce you to not so new instant messenger program, Google Talk.
The new messenger brought to you by Google enables any user to call or send instant
messages to friends anywhere in the world for free–anytime. It was only a matter of time before Google got into the chat game like many of its competitors have done.
Google Talk Beta is now open for signup to everybody including user that did not have a Gmail account. I think it will be a big competitor for both Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger. I did not know why Google enters the industry late, maybe because of has seeing an advertisement chances but I hope that it will not bloated by advertisement like Yahoo Messenger in the future. Yeah, who cares? They made billions of bucks already.
Right now, you can enjoy Google Talk without ads.
Google Talk is an extremely small download for an IM client. It is not much of a resource hog, has a very clean interface and a neat design too. The bottom line is, Google Talk lacks many of the standards. For instance, you can’t set a display picture, use emoticons, or view your chat history. I think that Google will react to these issues soon. Well, since this is a beta version, no one should expect it as the best from Google.
If you’re interested to try it, you can sign up for Google Talk here.
