If you live in a country where people did not speak English as their main language like me, (Malaysia) you might find a trouble to know what a person in the movie or drama actually speaks. That’s the time when the subtitle will help us to get away from this bothersome problem (English subtitle of course), but how to display it?
Well, you need a media player which can insert your subtitles file (.srt format) easily when playing your video files.
The software that we are going to use today is VideoLan VLC Media Player. Get it here. Since the download is quite big for dial-up user (8088 KB), try to download from the nearest server to you to get the fastest speed.
1) First, you need to install it as usual.
2) Open your video file using the VideoLan VLC Media Player
3) Right click on the video which is playing, go to “Miscellaneous”, then “Preferences”
4) Click > video > Subtitles
5) Insert your subtitles file. (usually in .srt format) Make sure that you choose the correct one.
6) Wait for a few seconds. Tadaa.. It’s finished already. So fast?
Note: If you have any problem using VLC player to display your subtitile, please let me know.

Hi,
I have the latest version of VLC player, and have downloaded the .srt file to play the movie, with subtitles on my Mac. Unfortunately, I can not right click, and when I use the alt/option key + command, there is nothing like a “Miscellaneous” box showing up. I am thus confused and don’t understand, how I can add subtitles using the VLC player. I appreciate any help. Thanks.
