Yeah I know it. This movie is old. After watching several Japanese movies such as Death Trance series, Versus series, and GTO series recently, I decided to turn my eyes on another movie named “Battle Royale”. It is based on an old-novel of the same name. I’ve found out that it’s rare and unique so I think I should share the info for those who did not know here.

This movie is about 40 high school students from class B who are on a class trip at the end of their compulsory education. They are taken to an unknown island by their teacher (with government) without knowing what the teacher had planned for them. They need to survive the Battle Royale and the final one who win the game will be release by their teacher. (it’s a little bit similar to the one in wrestling show but this one is EVIL!. yeah!) The prolugue as is follows:
At the dawn of the millennium, the nation collapsed. At fifteen percent unemployment, ten million were out of work. 800,000 students boycotted the school. The adults lost confidence, and, fearing the youth, eventually passed the Millennium Educational Reform Act AKA: The BR Act…
When they are in the island, they are given necklace ,weapons and tools to each one of them. There is 3 days time-limit so everybody got to kill each other. Otherwise, the necklace will explode and everybody will die. so who will be the winner?
Some screenshots of the movie:
1) The teacher’s explaining what Battle Royale is all about.
2) A geek student try to hack the database of the army’s system in planning for an escape.
3) Transferred student who entered the Battle Royale just for the fun of killing.
4) Could a girl kill a boy..?
I suggest that you watch it when you’re free. Your are going to be glued with the blasting actions. A good source would be local dvd/cs store or P2P network. Anyway. I give this film a rate of 8/10. Beside a good screenplay, there are many “kawaii girls” acting in this film..so it’s another reason why the guy should watch this film if they are not yet.
