I installed Ubuntu about a year ago and I have to say that it is one of the easiest Linux distributions to install. I am a Windows user, but enjoy experimenting with new things… and Linux is one of them. I have messed around with many various distributions, but Ubuntu, by far, is my favorite.
I would recommend any typical Windows user who wants to experiment around to try Ubuntu over anything else.
