Actually, this is one of the articles inside the destroyed database of Tech-
Scope’s 2006 archive, but this time I decided to rewrite it again for readers convenience. The question that might always glance to our mind when visiting a website is, how to: capture full height screenshot of a website? Well, it might be useful to get inspiration for web designing or other purpose.
There’s a specific way we can do this manually, but for now we will use two easy methods. The first method involving the use of Firefox extension, while for the second one we’ll use a freeware called webshot to to the task.
1st method: Using Pearl Crescent Page Saver Firefox’s extension:
It is an extension for Mozilla Firefox that lets you capture image of web
pages. These image will be saved in PNG format, or JPEG format (Firefox 2) according to the setting that you have set. You can choose to capture the entire page or just the visible portion. Since it’s Firefox’s extension, you will have the ability to capture pages that require login too. Ain’t that convinience?
2nd method: Using Webshot
Webshot is a software that surpass the ability of other screenshot capturing software which usually can’t capture full-height of a website. It can’t capture the page that requires user to login though. Here’s the publisher description:
WebShot is a program that allows you to take screenshots and thumbnails of web pages or whole websites. It comes with a command line interface for advanced users. The following image formats are supported JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP.
- Latest Version 1.33 (March 24th, 2007)
- Fixed timestamp output filename masking, changed %tl to %l
- Fixed issues with timers causing web browser control to hang
- Fixed problem loading executable due to manifest file
Additional info: Another tool that can perform the same function is SnagIt, but it’s commercial software and will cost you some bucks. For MacOSX user, you can use papparazi for this purpose. (Thanks: LcF)
