Ok, here’s a quick tip for today. Usually, when we try to install Windows XP in our computer, the installation program will ask us to register the operating system with Microsoft at the end of the installation. There’s no special benefit by registering if I’m not mistaken except that you will get important updates and offers.
To avoid registering your copy of Windows XP with Microsoft and force it into thinking you have completed the registration process, follow these steps below.
1. Disconnect your computer from internet connection (via dial-up modem, LAN, or wireless) before the installation of Windows XP.
2. After the installation is complete, avoid setting up internet connection when asked. Instead, click on the “Skip” button.
3. Click on the Start Button and select run. Type in ‘regsvr32 -u regwizc.dll’ (without quotes) and click OK. Then click OK again to close the confirmation dialog box which unregisters this dll file.
4. Go to ‘run’ again. This time, type in “regedit” (without quotes) and press enter. Look for this string: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion
5. Right click on the ‘RegDone’ string and select ‘Modify’. Type 1 in the ‘Value Data’ box, save and then close registry window.
6. Set your Internet Explorer homepage to anything than Microsoft’s sites (MSN Home, etc)
7. Reboot your computer, and then reconnect your LAN, Wireless, or modem. Voila!

Instead of “regsrv32″, you need to type “regsvr32″.

can this work… ? my old desktop need reformatting… so biasalah, pakai yg xp sp2 yg bukan ori tu untuk isntal bali everything.. bolehkah?
desktop tu hanya untuk play games anak saya. game besa2 ja. desktop hanya ada RAM 128MB aja. or shud i just use winme? pls advice. Kesian papa dis. anak dah complain. Hehehe.

128mb of ram would not be sufficient for Windows XP so I think you should install Windows Me instead.
About the registration of Windows XP, it does not influence your “eligibility” to get software updates for Microsoft, instead the only benefit is you are going to get the latest update including the new product info, etc sent to your mail box. There’s no worry for not registering.
