Frankly speaking I wonder why. I’m currently using the 512kb Streamyx package where I suppose to get 56kb download speed but the amount of time being taken for a website to load is extremely slow, especially to when it is hosted in overseas such as in the United States. Even Google.com loads in a few seconds.
No, I’m not running a Bittorrent or P2P program in the background so this made me feel disappointed. Not sure about the other part of Malaysia though as I’ve not contact my friend yet. How is your Streamyx performing?
So for now I guess I have to wait for the connection to get back to ‘normal’ after I made a call to the CS.
And guess what, once again I have the feeling that TMnet is meant to monopolize broadband industry here in Malaysia. I don’t know what is their main hidden agenda but once a new ISP (Internet Service Provider) which offers better service come out, they should know that the ISP will get support from most Streamyx users who have experienced the same problem as mine.
So, to the appropiate party, please appreciate your customers by improving the services in terms of performance as they are the persons who pay your salary.
Thinking of changing to Maxis or Jaring before but the problem is they are best with only 3G and wireless package where the latency is higher than broadband connection. Living in a small town, unfortunately I have limited choice too.

May 2nd, 2007 at 8:17 pm
It also depends on where you stay. My area is quite new, not many people registered yet, it is quite fast although i’m using the 300++ package, not the 512.
May 2nd, 2007 at 10:32 pm
oic..i’m staying at Tampoi Indah Johor..that why..quite slow i think because tmnet register user population here.
May 2nd, 2007 at 11:27 pm
I think TM is for Tak Mungkin.
You can complaint but TM consultant always think ‘Tak Mungkin’ this happening. They will give reasons and solution but we are still getting slow streamyx.
I am stayig in Cheras (KL), regardless what time my streamyx is very sloooooooooooooooooooow. Even at 03:00AM !!!!
May 11th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
Hmm..So you’re using Streamyx 512kb.Guess what..I’m using Streamyx 1Mb and my download speed less than 50kb..usually is around 30+ to 40+..If can reach 40+ consider lucky already..=.= Internet connection is kinda lose out to some other friends of mine using the same package.weird huh? I tried calling..They say after you apply for streamyx..beginning line will be unstable~ for like 1 month..Again..I apply for Streamyx on April…..Last year..Peace =|

i jus do not understadn which language people at customer service understand.. wat is the use of paying 88 bucks everymonth when i can not even see 100K online streaming news or anything.. downloading speed sucks, browsing is slow… what m i payin for dail-up for 1mb..
i do not know wat else to do.. no use of yeiling at them ,, not use of wwriting email to them.,, all i do waste my time with them and waste my money..
result is always the same.
i wonder wat is jaring requirement and switch ther :S.
TM completely sucks
May 22nd, 2007 at 1:54 am
nani, streamyx, and mj: TMnet prioritize profit more than customer’s experience of using their services, especially with Screamyx… (which is another reason why we should really call it screamyx by the way)
May 22nd, 2007 at 1:57 am
Well I used to host mine in Malaysia too. But luckily the new company that I swicted to have their server in Canada. haha!
Yea, I wonder when is Streamyx ever gonna be fast loading? Should let them taste some stiff competition from other Internet Service Provider huh?
May 22nd, 2007 at 2:08 am
chee kui: They are being spoon-fed by the government I suppose, can’t except much from people like that to let the industry which they are monopolizing right now to have real fierce competition from other isps.

Hello,
I ask that this email be sent to Management at TM Net, I wish to advise them of the outstanding service I have received.
After many telephone calls to report a fault with my modem I was at a loss as to how to obtain service. Each time I called I was asked to wait another two days and this continued to happen, I continued to be without internet access, and was very unhappy. Internet is my means of communicating with my family and friends overseas and I was missing the contact with my loved ones.
Finally I was transferred to Suguna late yesterday afternoon. Suguna was patient and understanding, she listened as I explained my problems which started last Sunday (10 June). At no time did she rush me and although I am sure she was very busy, I felt like I was the most important customer. Suguna’s kind nature and empathy with my situation quickly reassured me. In no time at all Suguna called me back to advise a technician would visit my home to replace the faulty modem. He called soon after and then arrived, replaced the modem and checked my internet connection. This customer care was fantastic and Suguna SMSed to make sure everything was working and in order.
What started out as a problem, grew into a larger one, and left me feeling very unhappy with TM Net was immediately changed when I spoke to Suguna. I have since told many friends of the wonderful service I have received. My husband shares these views as he does so much work from home and access to the internet is essential for him.
Suguna is such a worthwhile employee and an asset to your organization. I ask that my compliments are passed to her and her superiors. If you wish to discuss this experience please call me on 012 6434 973, I would be more than happy to express my total satisfaction with the service I have received.
Please advise me that you have received this email, I would hate to think Suguna’s excellent representation of TM Net was not acknowledged.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Annette Dautel

Let me tell you guys the reason.
Malaysia can still offer 384K bandwidth? Popular plan at 512K & 1Mbps?
Advanced and developed countries are offering over 25Mbps.
including Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, China.
That’s after the government push for competition and unbundling.
(some even before unbundling are also running at >4Mbps)
Still Malaysia want to claim to be IT hub? gosh! No wonder Malaysia Telcos are making money…and economic booming (just a little)
All at the expense of people welfare
Guess you people should start to push them.

I felt that streamyx is terrible. I currently using 512 kbps package. I was surprise when my I test my download speed with testmy — 3 to 5 KB per second. Isn’t it suppose to be more than 50KB per second or something?
June 24th, 2007 at 7:23 am
The speed is terrible since a week ago. I don’t bother to call helpdesk as their standard answer would be their internal test speed is fine and it must be an external problem that they don’t have any control of. It really frustrated to talk to them so much so that I would rather wait and pray it would be back to normal speed soon.
Just imagine I would be jumping around my house if the download speed is above 100kB/s (1Mb package) however on the second thought that’s what I’ve paid for???
This strange behaviour ONLY happens to TMNET customer! lol!
Would you jump around if you get nasi lemak after you pay $1 for it?
June 24th, 2007 at 9:10 am
So I end up by turning to Opera Internet Browser to improve my internet browsing speed. Result? A lot of improvement. Try it out guys..
July 28th, 2007 at 2:46 pm
I am on 512kbps package as well. I doubt that upgrading to 2Mbps would help, because the bottle neck is connection to USA.
http://www.speedtest.net
Can you people post your result here?
My latency to USA is 600ms. Download 50 kpbs, upload 70 kbps
streamyx, I love you… NOT
August 24th, 2007 at 6:25 pm
Streamyx, you are sooooo sloow. I wish they would improve the internet speed…. Oh, I would like to recommend those who have slow downloading speed to use DAP, download accelerator plus. Its a really good download program.
October 28th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
streamyx sucksss!!! u can load website is considered good u know….! i need almost 1 minute to load for website and even google.com, sometimes my fucking streamyx line can’t even load for any pages…. so damn angry for this problem… i called to streamyx CS many many times but their feedback normally is ask us to do this and do that and finally they didn’t solve the problem…. i’ve been thinking for a long time i pay RM77 every month and 1 year contract for connection but how come i get a line worse than dial up???!!!!! i really wanna complain for this but this TM net company really FUCK!!! this is government based company so we can’t really do anything for this!!! they don’t know improve their service and everything!!! and lastly i hate this shit malaysia government…. how come they never allow overseas investors to invest broadband service in our country??!!! i really hope this maxis broadband service will provides a reasonable and better service than “TMNET”….
November 27th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
Please people, cool down. Yes, streamyx sucks but do bear in mind that they are a new pup trying to run with the big dogs.
In the US or wherever, they have what we call FREE TRADE. TM is the one and only broadband provider in Malaysia due to a previous certain godforsaken law. Although it’s all changed now (supposedly), we have a lack of foreign investors playing around in the market, so no competition he ferocious wild boar became the lazy domesticated pig. That’s why their service is on an average POOR although there some true gems out there.
In other countries, they have a better implemented TELCO infrastructure i.e. better cables, switch boards, ports, and general equipment. Did you know, Malaysia IS in fact one of the leaders in TELCO providers outside of Malaysia? Nigeria and Uganda ring bells? We suck locally because a) we don’t gave any other choices so they CAN suck b) the equipment we use have been in service for 5 to 10 years min so how do you expect a mangy old horse to gallop with a race horse on steroids?
THEN there’s the matter of the overall up/down trunk speed TM has. It’s a corporate secret on how BIG their trunk really is but let me just put you in perspective: IF TM have a 1GB/Sec up/down trunk, we then have to minus overheads for the data transfers before our signals reach global any DNS (encapsulation, translations, CRC chekcsum and other mumbo jumbo) so we can actually quite safely say, our pure transfer trunk is around 900MBPS. That is TM’s net (probly), YOUR transfers are capped at 1MBPS but you know your signals will get them overheads too. Don believe? go to streamyx bandwidth checker…. fuuuooooh~ 1MBPS is actually 690-7++ KBPS…. max oh, meaning no P2P and bandwidth boars running oh. So, one 1MBPS customer get a 700KBPS slice of the surf cake…. how many 1MBPS subscribers do you think TM have? heheheh… let’s just say oh… maybe a 100? so 700*100…. how many MBPS is that? Seems hopeless? Don’t worry, I know there’s some young whiper snapper out there dying to give you the technical mumbo jumbo and flame me in the process so they can feel more important but ROUGHLY saying, that’s how streamyx is such a suck to use at times.
But then FYI, networking Godly creators out there always foresee this kind of bottlenecks happening so they have algorithms to cope with these scenarios so a 1GBPS trunk can be maximized.
ASTRO did try to venture into the market with a 10GBPS satlink trunk but then, magically…. their dreams got shot down…. I WONDER why….. (looks around the room for “ear-in-the-wall”…. !! Oh hello there Dr. M… nice day huh… hehehe)
THEN again, there’s the perps using the P2P proggies… fuuuooooh…. 1000++ port mapped connections to the outside world!!! International high congestion IP addresses some more…..
The router died…. what you think happen to poor TM’s aged like fine wine equipments? Muahahahaha
…. hey… aren’t you from TM… say who’s that with you?? Aren’t you from the finance ministers’ off…. *WHACK, BAM, SMACK, THUD*………

F*cking Maxis broadband
It very very very very very very slow
F*cking Maxis CEO you get my money, but you don’t give me a arealy service. Fuck you!!!
March 22nd, 2008 at 6:10 am
streamyx service??hmm….actually im using it rite now..ok wat!no problem…however, when got a few people downloading or sharing a bandwidth with you, i think it will slow down your loadind speed..so, if u r using wifi router, u should get a security code to lock your network to prevent someone else leecher your network. For those who always call cs and say wat wat wat…”i pay for your salary, and pls appreciate me!”hmm…actually..,if u dun like the service they provided..,u better unsubcribed ur service or shift another broadband company..like celcom broadband, izzinet, maxis, or other lah…i hate people always say”i pay for ur salary, u should appreciate me!”oh my god…, u think the company fellow dun noe meh??they are much more expert than you la…anyway, if u dunlike the service..,juz dun use it!simple way..!
March 22nd, 2008 at 6:22 am
To Khan…
wat wat wat???f*cking?? Maxis pula?? the speed very slow??u r using wireless or wired broadband??
pls lah..b4 f*cking someone, makesure u noe wats the prob 1st!!u should maxis have limited area to cover..those area under telecom or tmnet, maxis cant touch it at all..kesian ya…from here,we knew 1st come 1st serve!
so..when u surf net at the peak timing..like lunch hour ke..a lot people surf net on that time..so..juz like the high way..when everyone going home at the same time or going to a same destination at a same time..”sure will traffic jam”..like that lo..
if u dun wan tis “traffic jam” happen to u,u can apply a lease line for urself..only you can use the whole broadband..no one can ganggu u..if not..u can sue them, or saman them!haha..
otherwise..,dun complaint a lot!
March 24th, 2008 at 1:18 am
Hello mAn
March 24th, 2008 at 1:24 am
Hello mAn!
you said shift (true english is switch la)… but the truth is celcom/digi/maxis have limited area covered.. don;t know whether it’s due to protection for Telekom or what.
then you said you think company fellow dun noe meh? They know… but because competition isn’t there, they save cost on building new infrastructure… Malaysia broadband tech and speed is years behind dude!
then you mentioned the highway stuff… but malaysia broadband is not highway but one or two lanes small road
then all the Benz (HP), BMW (Macintosh), Volvo(Dell), & Chap brand (Proton
) etc, wanna squeeze into those small lanes… mana boleh?
March 30th, 2008 at 4:11 am
i agree to most of u.. TMnet suks..
i am using the 1mb package…i m not only experiencing slow connection to server based in china (with speedtest less than 100kbps), but also being disconnected frequently from the servers hosted there….
i have sent several emails over tmnet… informing them the problem… yet usual reply as u all know.. asking me to “TUNGGU” and saying “MUNGKIN problem itu blah blah blah”… would nv solve the problems…these problems had been persisted over years…
i wonder would the authorities care about the comments posted over here.. i really annoyed..
finally, wanna say, TMnet.. u suks… earning so much money and yet doing nothing to improve ur service. wish u, closing down soon…
May 8th, 2008 at 11:18 am
no hope to malaysia! everything is bad, broadband speed 2M (KL 4M) lost to philipine 10M
1M 2M 4M is a fake fake fake! reach or not? i got test the speed, my speed is DW 1M/UP 512k, getting result is DW 180k / UP 224k… haha… UP more than DOWN… see… how u can ask me y not update to 1M or 2M… same thing lah… F!
May 10th, 2008 at 2:02 am
im using the 1 M package ..here in johor bharu. My biggest problem is i cannot watch YOUTUBE ..anybody got anytips please advice me.I i dont want any stupid advice from the TMnet support team.by the way my highest speed is only 500 kbs if im lucky.
May 13th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Hello guys… I’m experiencing the same problem.. what they say about the speed is true and correct… if u c at their website, they claim 1Mbps only within the Malaysian hub.. (which is LAN in our country only).. When connected to the ‘outside’ world, our connection deteriorate… y? Becoz they don’t know how to connect to the outside world… they would sub it to contractors.. whom, want to make profit and ’suck’ all the money from TMNet’s lazy organisation policy. In the end.. the End User that would receive the bad services… even if we switch to other telco with broadband, the speed is not as what is expected. Why? Because of the ‘hidden monopoly’ by the national telco.. (who? u might be asking.. just look around ya
).. end of statement!
July 8th, 2008 at 1:43 am
I want 2 make a call to the CS. streamyx service is veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy slow.aku tak boleh tahan lagi lah.i cannot watch any video from youtube all the day!i cant believe! i wan 2 cancel streamyx service if condition not to improve!can any1 give me the nombor Cs?plz!i will thank a lot 2 u…..
July 8th, 2008 at 6:29 am
so… any good broadband service in m’sia?
lol
admin: Ask yourself. If you have tried all broadband services in Malaysia and found the conclusion, then the most appropriate person to answer the question should be yourself. Apparently, I’m not the one who is able to answer your question.
July 13th, 2008 at 4:24 am
I believe this company should be banned because of useless to fix this connection problem.
Fuck streamyx.
this company has earn many money but still fuckin lazy to concern this problem If I can i will shoot them all mohafuckers
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:37 pm
dont use streamyx!!!the ping of the line is incredibly high, especially playing online game like counter-strikes,i use wifi(public),know what,my ping/latency is lower than sreamyx user plus its free!!!
July 25th, 2008 at 8:45 am

I feel tat cheated by tm, now i in considering do not use tm ady wan change try 2 subscribe celcom’s broadband..
July 26th, 2008 at 8:45 am
There’s really no proper alternantive to Streamyx. From what I’ve gleaned on other blogs and site, the only difference between TM Net’s offering and that of Izzi, Celcom, UMobile and others is mostly portability. The ultimate bottle neck is still TM Net. All web traffic in Malaysia passes through it. However, if you wish to increase your P2P, Torrent, and general webpage viewing speeds, install a program called Hotspot Shield by Anchor Free. It’s a free Virtual Private Network service, providing you with a safe, speedy, and completely encrypted connection with an IP address listed in the US.
See my article: http://patricksoon.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-watch-hulu-in-canada-hack.html
July 29th, 2008 at 2:15 am
Yea.! Mine oso sooo slow … eventhough i use the RM88 package .. many times even the jaring speed can win it .. Rely is OMG.!!
August 1st, 2008 at 10:24 pm
in year 2003, i subscribed rm88 and the connection was 1mb. is really cool to have that connection speed but when i used the flashget downloader to download a software the speed is only reach to 60kbps..FINE!!
in year 2005, i downgrade it to rm66 (which is affordable) and also do the same thing - download a software using flashget still the same result 60kbps. FINE!!
and now in year 2008, i downgrade to streamyx (streamass combo) rm60 and do the same thing and i get the speed 33kbps…at night cannot use msn already!!! NO FINE!!
what the FUCK is going wrong to streamyx!!! i almost every day called the sohai CS and give the same answer “masalah lokasi encik…” refresh modem blablablabla!!!
jibai streamass~~~ why is the Putrajaya speed can be up to 800kbps with 1MB package speed?? (80% speed u know??) we only get less than 20% or 30% speed!!!
my friends in Aus (they go there to study) keep on asking me y they cannot let me see them with the webcam and always see me get disconnected? i just tell them that our speed is the “best” and the line is always “stable”. they can watch online tv but we cant..
COME’ON LA JIBAI STREAMASS~~~!!!! DONT ALWAYS TELL MALAYSIAN THAT YOUR SPEED IS THE BEST OR THE FASTEST ONE!!! U ALREADY HAVE A LOT MONEY BUT U DIDNT DO ANYTHING!!! SIT ON THE SOFA AND PUT THE LEG ON THE TABLE!? CHAO JI BAI!!!
August 2nd, 2008 at 12:40 am
How?
Is it a miracle?
Download at line speed?
Let me clear one thing first! Streamyx offers are calculated using bits!!!!!!, not BYTES!!!!!
FYI: 1 BYTES = 8 bits!!!!
I just want to clear up a few erors being posted by others.
Anyways, your download speeds shown by firfox, internet explorer or whatever Bit Torrent clients are in BYTES. So if you subscribe to 1Mbit package, you should be downloading around 150kB/s right?
WRONG!!!!!!
HUGE MISTAKE!!!!
There are two factors which influence your download speed.1)Streamyx sucks, or 2)Something wrong with your computer.
Explanation:1)Streamyx sucks because they are BIG FAT LIARS!, they capped our bandwidth, filtered their networking to stop P2P(in the name of COMBATING PIRACY), online traffic congestion in your area, or maybe because they are just LAZY!!!!!
2)Something went wrong in your computer. This maybe true(i said maybe), but i believe everyone should be able to at least watch youtube, if streamyx sucks.
Tell you all the truth, connecting to seeds in overseas is nearly impossible, its all about luck in my case.
Wish to know how download at 150kB/s?
Here is my email: keithgoh123@gmail.com
Its just too damn long to explain how to do this!
And I also use Streamyx 1Mb package.
Sorry to double Post.
August 6th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Hm…. I cant load YouTube videos. They just kept buffering! 1Mbps package. Living in Sabah
Download Speed:870-890kbps
Upload Speed:254-400kbps(as promised)
quite dissapointed!

I’m working with the government agency and let me tell you something, when it involved the government and the cronies, they rather spend their money on looking good rather then actually being good. The PCs in my agency are mostly old models with a lot of irrepairable problems, and yet they told us to use it a little longer. no money to replace the computers? oh we got the money alright, lots of money. but guess where the money goes? it goes to the effort to get the ISO 9000 or what-the-sheeit. So we buy a lot of things that we never really need but look very good on camera. that’s how government agency work and by extension, how TMnut work.
