A series of fishy e-mail called Microsoft promotion award team 2007 continue to attack my Gmail Inbox after I posted an entry about it in this blog the good news is the saga has already stopped now. If we think logically, how can we win a lottery if we didn’t enter any? Even when it’s from Microsoft or the lottery is real, winning lottery is certainly not a good way of getting money to feed our family in my opinion.
Anyway, I’m still receiving other similar e-mail that have the characteristic of the Nigerian scams in my inbox which make me question the reliability of Gmail service that I’m using right now.
Usually, the message claims that the recipient can be legally as next of kin to a person who died intestate and thereby inherit a large sum of money. A good laugh if we think of it in other way since the scammers don’t have any idea other than writing such e-mails. As far as I concern, they has existed since few years ago and it looks like the scammers tend to use the same ‘template’ again and again.
Recent e-mail that I receive is quite different though; one claims that he’s an Iraqi ex-soldier and willing to give a share if we help him to move his money abroad.

Hi
I have been receiving similar type of emails that i have won some lottery or something!
Firstly, if anyone can answer my query, in the excitement of the moment if we send them some information about ourselves, though i was lucky they didnt ask me to send money nor did they ask me about my account details, but if we have furnished our address to them and phone nos. what is the maximum risk we are at?
After the excitement was over, my brain’s logics started working and i searched for such lottery related details and found this site wherein my doubts are cleared…. thanks friends for such sites are really informative and eye openers!!
If anyone has any idea please let me know what happens if they have little detail about me?
Thanks

glendalys pedraza: not sure though.. There are many scammers in the internet and I think it’s difficult for FBI to trace all of them at a short period.
sandhy: you’re welcome. Sometimes, the scammers use data gathered from certian website to steal our informations via online form, script, etc.

I think it is the most terriblr scam to make people believe that they have won money. Microsoft should do anything to stop this as it is truely damaging to their image.

I just want to ask if there are really such things as Microspft promotion Award Team Lotterry or any such lottery sponsored by microsoft?
Scamming for money is such a global and diverse thing. I think the best thing we could do being recepients of these garbage mails is just delete it outright.
October 16th, 2007 at 3:22 am
Bottom line: let’s not fall on this kind of thing. As simple as that. Though, it wasn’t so simple the first time I got this kind of mail.
It was like, wow! Good thing, the amount was in pounds. Who would give away a 12 digit cash just like that?
