Try to search for multimedia files converter software using Google search
engine and you will find various results come up.
Usually, most of the software appeared at top position of the search result are commercial, meaning that they have trial limitation and to use the software fully you must buy the full version.
Now check out a free multimedia converter called SUPER © before you buy any converter software. This freeware allows you to effortlessly convert video files between every format under Microsoft Windows platform without any limitation.
It’s universal because it supports a wide variety of input/source file format to play or encode (to and from) without any additional third party software. Examples of supported input source file formats are 3gp, 2gp, asf, avo, dat, fli, flc, flv, mkv, mp3, mov, mp4, ogg, qt, rm, ram, rmvb, str (Play Station), ts (HDTV), viv, vob, wmv, etc. Too many but you might want to read it yourself here to see whether it meets your requirement or not.
Of course there are other open source software made to perform multimedia file conversion but this one does it with an enticing graphical user interface (GUI). The quality of the rendered files or the played file does not depend on its performance but the result of the great work achieved by the respective authors of the codec. Hence, you shouldn’t have to worry about the quality of the result produced by this freeware. It depends on how you set the conversion.
Avid animer/tv series forumers will find it interesting too as this software can also create animated avatar from video file for them. The only bottom line that I found is it took me sometimes to search where does the download link located in the website. After sometimes, I found it to be this.
I used ffmpeg conversion engine and tried to get one of my funny videos which is in wmv format to be converted to AVI for the sake of testing.

It was impressive that in the first attemp I made with the software only, the conversion was successful!
You might wonder where your converted files went when start using this freeware later. To solve this, before converting any file move the mouse pointer over the “Super” program windows and Right Click. A menu will pop out and “Output File Management” option is listed there. Customize the location.

Super has that option. I tried the conversion format right after I read your comment and I managed to get my mp3 file converted to ogg with just few clicks.

I have been using SUPER for a while now. It works nice and encodes in minutes.
Only problem: If the ‘Use DirectShow’ option is not checked, it can pose errors at times.

Well, the guy at Super has use a referrer system (http_referrer) to block users from accessing the download page anywhere but from their site (www.erightsoft.com), so if you guys want to download the software you have to go there first instead of using the direct download link that I’ve given before.

I also found out that it you will not be able to use Firefox to download Super (poor Firefox -_-!). Use Internet Explorer instead, I’ve tried it and is downloading the latest version at the moment I write this comment.
