Sad, but true. People who got mad in Indonesia will be treaten like animal rather than a patient. Why? An easy answer is..Asia’s mental health centers look more like a prisons rather than hospitals. Photographer John Stanmeyer takes a closer and disturbing look at those suffering in silence.

Fuad: This is not a prison, but a Mental Health Center in Panti Bina Laras Sepayung, Indonesia. :(

There are more than 300 women and men live in the “prison”. Each of them is budgeted $1 USD per day for food and medicine. The facility is actually designed to hold 150 people, but due to economic problem in Indonesia, more and more people suffers mental illness, mainly because of poverty.

As result, they had to be sent to the mental health center to be treatened. If nothing can be done to cure them, then the final destination for them will be the horrified prison. As you can see in the picture below, many of the patients chained to the wall.
