Windows XP, MCE, and Server 2003 users are now able to transform their
OS interface safely into Windows Vista with a software called VistaMizer. Over 380 files modification are packed into the packaged, including new icons, pictures and videos.
The installer works smart by making the transformation process uninterrupted with Windows Update an incompatible system files. Although the mimicking is incomplete as XP lacks some features Vista has like Search Box in every folder, Windows Aero, Title Bar transparency, it should be enough to change your old desktop into a new, cool refreshing look without degrading performance. Some key features are:
-
Vista-Look for Windows XP, MCE, or Server 2003
-
Modification of the own system files
-
Multilingual
-
Completely choice for the modification files
-
Check the files for compatiblity during the installation
-
Backup from the original system files
-
Remodification of the system files after Windows Update
-
Rebuilding the original system files with un-installation

Fuad, my experience with Vista was far from happy and I reverted to XP. I am quite afraid to take a chance.

chuks ugoji: I’m just a normal guy who has an interest in computer and have the time to post about it.
Online Music Dictionary: By default, Vista is a memory hog. But I have to use it now because I had problem with my xp licensing. I has customized my vista settings to make me comfortable using it though.
Eva White: Personally, I would suggest you to use the os that makes you feel comfortable and productive.

What licensing problem? If I do not ‘upgrade’ to vista, are they likely to give me grief? They haven’t so far.

If i may ask, i tried doing this but it didn’t really work out, a friend who i also told about tried and then his web cam stopped working.what could be the cause.

I have similar experience with “Online Music Dictionary”. I feel more comfortable with Windows XP rather than Vista.
Maybe because their UI is quite different with XP.

Looks like it lacks the search function though, which for me is the best thing about vista - I can launch apps simply by hitting windows key, f, then enter (for Firefox). I wonder how resource-intensive it is for your computer too.

TRY THIS!!!!!
Downloading the vista transformation pack!:
Firstly go to the URL: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,64389-page,1-c,downloads/description.html
If not, a quick google search will find the apropriate download site.
This is the download of Vista Transformation pack 6 and although there are later versions, this version seems to be the easiest to download and install. Other downloads seem to crash?
At this point in the process you may want to backup your data, However in the rare occasion that the installer did fail during the installation, you will be covered.
Step 2:
(Note: this installer does not delete windows system files but simply changes them to closely resemble the UI of vista.)
When installed your system will ask you to reboot, do so! On the reboot you will come to a logon screen closely resembling that of vista.
Step 3:
Logon! Next you will come to your vista ‘pimped’ desktop, including side bar with widgets. as you get a basic feel of your new styled OS, you’ll begin to discover a whole new style for each menu and active window border. Heres Just a preview of various apps running on your new vista styled OS.
Almost there! Now to finish your vista style off, to really give it that smooth look, download a tool called Transparent Task bar. This tool will change the transparency of your vista style taskbar, The transparency is fully customisable and is very easy to use. (Note the small slider on the application.) Finally go to google images or any image searche engine for that matter and find a high resolution photo of a view or close-up. This really gives your desktop the Cutting edge vista look when combined with the transparent taskbar.
